Policies and Resolutions

Complete Streets policies, resolutions, and ordinances have been passed throughout the state of New Mexico. The Santa Fe and Las Cruces Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) passed resolutions in support of Complete Streets in 2007, 2008. The Town of Mesilla, City of Las Cruces, and Doña Ana County all passed Complete Streets resolutions not long after the Las Cruces MPO passed their resolution which encouraged local municipalities to do the same. The Mid-Region Council of Governments passed a resolution to integrate Complete Streets principles into all their MPO documents in 2011. Doña Ana County’s resolution is recognized by the National Complete Streets Coalition as one of the best crafted county resolutions in the country. The City of Las Cruces is now taking steps to implement their Complete Streets policy as part of their Strategic Plan and will begin to integrate Complete Streets into their design standards. The City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County both adopted Complete Streets ordinances in 2015.
